”Dave
can u see anything”
“No
I can’t it’s way too dark” replied Chris.
A
branch snapped behind them.
Dave
and Chris looked at each other and knew that they had caught up
They
went back to back. Checking their m16’s for full Clips they froze in position
hoping that it had been a deer.
A
loud, high pitched screech broke the silence nearly causing them to loose focus.
Dave turned and fired off a couple of rounds in the general direction only
causing a second screech to erupt from behind him. Chris turned to cover Dave
and fired off a couple of rounds. Looking at each other they knew they were
surrounded. Chris looked into the woods and then put his attention back on
Dave, as he did he saw Dave already had two grenades in his hands with the pins
pulled.
“This
is it” Chris thought to himself.
Dave
threw the Grenades into the direction where the first screech had come from. As
the grenades left Dave’s hand they turned and ran in the opposite direction
laying down cover fire as they headed deeper into the woods. They had worked
together for a long time and knew what the other person was thinking without having
to say a single word. The footsteps grew quieter so Dave and Chris slowed their
pace.
“We’re
almost there” Dave whispered.
Chris looked over at Dave and his eyes widened.
“DUCK”
Chris yelled.
As everything went into slow-motion, Chris
swung his gun around as the creature jumped out of the thorn bushes, but by the
time the first bullet left the chamber the creature was long gone. Chris turned
to Dave only to find a lifeless body lying on the ground with a slit
throat. As swiftly as it had came it had vanished.
